It used as defoliant in cotton planting. After being absorbed by the plant, it can promote the natural formation and abscission of the separated tissue between petiole and stem, which is a good defoliating agent.

Effects
*Thidiazuron is absorbed by the leaves.
*Thidiazuron stimulates formation of an abscission layer between the plant stem and the leaf petioles.
*When Used for defoliation of cotton, in order to facilitate harvesting; applied at 0.21kg/ha per season.
