Does food really affect your mood? Yes, What you eat directly affects the structure and function of your brain, eventually, your mood. Unhealthy eating patterns can cause mood swings. Foods have nutrients that may affect the functioning of the brain and affect your energy level.

Nutritionist Dr Rohini Patil says: “If you eat lots of processed meat, fried food, refined cereals, candy, or high-fat dairy products, you’re more likely to feel anxious and depressed. Everything you eat goes through your intestine which is home for billions of bacteria. These bacteria are involved in numerous functions critical to your health and well-being. Improving your diet may not only improve your mood but also gives you more energy and help you think more clearly.”

Here are food items that can lift your mood.
