Daviess County spoiled the Marshals Homecoming night, rolling to a 57-0 district win. The Panthers this year are coming off the best record in their program history after finishing 11-2 last season. They won the 6A District Championship before falling to Louisville St. Xavier in the state quarterfinals.

Last season, Daviess County beat the Marshals 71-7.

Winning the coin toss and electing to kick, Daviess County caught the Marshals off guard with a successful onside kick and began their drive at midfield. It didn’t pan out for the Panthers with the Marshals defense holding and forcing them to turn it over on downs.

Not able to get the ball moving, the Marshals punted on their first drive but their defensive effort forced another Daviess County turnover on downs.

A Marshall County fumble was recovered by Daviess County which sent their offensive unit back on the field and they scored their first touchdown on a three-yard run by Isaac Blue. The point after was good by placekicker Sean Higgs for a 7-0 lead at 3:41 in the first quarter.

The Marshals punted on 4th and 15 on their next possession, the ball hitting the ground and picked up by Russ Crowe who ran it all the way back into the endzone but it was brought back on a penalty on Daviess County.

Toren Redmon intercepted Daviess County quarterback Lake Wilson to give the Marshals the ball back as the first quarter ended but facing another fourth down, the Marshals punt fell into the hands of Crowe and this time his run back into the endzone for the touchdown was clear of flags to put the Panthers up 14-0.

Daviess County threw in the onside kick once again and again it was successful, which set up their next touchdown on a 34-yard run by Decker Renfrow and the lead was 21-0.

Daviess County scored again on their next possession, a 22-yard run by Bryson Parm for a 28-0 lead.

Picking up a first down – their first of the game – the Marshals would turn it over on downs which set up another Daviess County touchdown. Parm scored his second touchdown of the night from the 10 with 10 seconds on the clock to give the Panthers a 34-0 halftime lead.

Daviess County opened the second half scoring with a field goal to go up 37-0 and stretched their lead to 44-0 on a touchdown pass. Before the third quarter ended, the Panthers took a 50-0 lead on a 24-yard run by Gatlin Maysay.

They went on to score one more touchdown in the fourth quarter to finish off the 57-0 district win.

In unofficial stats, the Marshals had 52 yards of offense. Rushing for 39 yards on 21 carries and 13 yards in passing. Aiden Dunigan led in rushing with 32 yards on seven carries.

Daviess County had 401 yards in total offense. They rushed for 175 yards on 25 carries and two quarterbacks combined for 226 yards of passing. Parm led on the ground with 133 yards on 12 carries, scoring two touchdowns.

Dropping to 3-3, the Marshals will travel to Henderson County (4-1) next week. Henderson County defeated Paducah Tilghman 30-13 on Friday.
